READING 4TH NOVEMBER AT 3.0 P.M.

THE YORK REALIST BY PETER GILL

TO BE DIRECTED BY MARTIN COSGRIF

An open reading will be held at the Loft on Sunday, 4th November at 3.0 p.m. It will be staged 12th – 22nd June 2019 in the main house

Performed to five star reviews at the Donmar earlier this year it is set in Yorkshire in 1960’s. George, a local farmer, is cast in an amateur staging of the York Mystery Plays.  His world is shaken when he falls in love with the Assistant Director, John, who comes up from London for the production.

Peter Gill’s play is a powerful love story and a moving and touching reflection of the complexities of family and class.

It is a much garlanded piece of writing; Peter Gill at the top of his game.

“The York Realist is riveting and heartrending”

“Peter Gill’s beautiful 2002 play leaves you in no doubt that it is a modern classic”

“Terse, understated and achingly eloquent”.

The audition will be held in January 2019.  There is a cast of 7.  Age ranges are from 16 to 60’s.

Everyone welcome.
